The base is the connecting part between the crane and the ship’s deck. It is usually fixed on the ship’s deck by means of welding or bolt connection. Shock absorbing pads or shock absorbing devices are installed between the base and the deck. For some large marine telescopic boom cranes, the base will also be reinforced and connected to the main structures such as the ship’s keel to withstand greater lifting loads and torques generated during operation.

The rotating mechanism permits the telescopic boom to rotate on the horizontal plane to expand the working range. Hydraulic motors or electric motors provide the rotational power, and precise angle control can be achieved through the control system, facilitating the lifting and placement of goods.
